The Energy You Carry: What You Feel, Others Feel Too
Emotions aren’t just fleeting moods or internal states-they’re energy. That energy moves. It doesn’t stay bottled up inside you. It radiates into the spaces you enter, into the conversations you have, and into the way people experience you. You don’t need to say a word for someone to pick up on your vibe. You’ve probably felt it yourself-walking into a room and immediately sensing tension, or feeling unexpectedly lighter around someone who seems grounded and calm. That’s emotional frequency at play.
David Hawkins, in Power vs. Force, introduced a map of consciousness that ranks emotional states by vibrational frequency. At the very bottom are shame, guilt, and fear-dense, heavy, low-energy states. At the top are love, joy, and peace-expansive and elevated frequencies. His research shows that the higher your emotional state, the more personal power you carry. Not the kind rooted in control, but the kind that brings clarity, alignment, and influence. When you move through life filled with anger or resentment, you tend to encounter more of the same. When you begin to lead with gratitude, compassion, or curiosity, life begins to mirror those energies back to you in unexpected ways.
Animals are especially attuned to these energetic shifts. Dogs often sense stress or sadness before their humans have even acknowledged it themselves. Horses respond directly to a person’s internal state. They don’t care about your words, only your presence. This sensitivity to energy isn’t unique to animals. People feel it too, even if they don’t know how to name it.
I notice this all the time in the smallest of ways. My kids always tease me for saying hi to strangers. Whether I’m walking through the grocery store, taking a stroll, or standing in line for coffee-I greet people. I smile, I nod, I acknowledge. My kids will ask, “Do you know them?” and laugh when I say no. What they don’t fully see yet is that I like paying attention to those around me. A simple smile or kind word can shift someone’s entire day. That moment of connection might be the first time someone has felt seen in a while. Sometimes it even shifts something inside me.
Presence is one of the most effective ways to stabilize and elevate your energy. Eckhart Tolle writes about this in The Power of Now, reminding us that much of our emotional discomfort comes from living in the past or fearing the future. Regret, shame, and resentment pull us backwards. Anxiety and worry drag us forward. True peace can only exist here, in this moment. When you’re grounded in the now, your nervous system settles. Your thoughts quiet down. Your energy becomes more aligned and less reactive.
Joe Dispenza adds another layer to this conversation by showing how your thoughts and emotions create electromagnetic fields that affect not only your internal chemistry but also your external reality. Repetitive thoughts and patterns wire your brain to expect the same results. By practicing mindfulness, meditation, and visualization, you begin to interrupt those loops. You retrain your body to feel something new. This new feeling becomes your new baseline-and from that place, you attract different outcomes.
This work matters because energy shapes experience. When you start paying attention to what you’re carrying, you gain the power to shift how you feel and how others feel around you. Life becomes less about reacting and more about responding. You begin to sleep more deeply, speak more clearly, and engage more intentionally. You become someone others feel safe around-not because you’re perfect, but because your energy is steady, open, and kind.
Daily shifts don’t have to be big to be meaningful. Begin your morning with a few moments of gratitude. Pause and take conscious breaths when the day feels overwhelming. Pay attention to the thoughts that arise, and gently guide them in a new direction. Speak slowly. Make eye contact. Acknowledge someone’s presence, even in passing. Each of these moments is a chance to elevate your frequency.
There is no need to have it all figured out. The simple act of showing up with awareness and intention is powerful enough to shift the energy you carry-and the ripple effect it creates. What you feel matters. What you radiate matters. The more presence and care you bring to your inner world, the more beauty and harmony you begin to experience in your outer one.
